Are you willing/ able to:

Are you able to afford a pet? (Initial cost of purchasing + ongoing expenses)

Are you willing to make a lifelong commitment to your pet?

Are you able to house your pet?

Are you willing to exercise your pet everyday? (In the case of a dog)

Are you willing to train, groom and care for the pet?

Are you willing to the above mentioned on an everyday basis?

If you are able to answer a Yes to all of the above questions, then only should you adopt a pet.

Why Adopt? - We Provide You with the Top 5 Reasons

Are you looking to get a new pet? Have you ever considered the option of pet adoption? It is an awesome option to add a loyal friend into your family. And we give you 5 simple reasons why adoption beats buying a new pet, anytime.

1. You'll save a life

Some pet shelters are forced to put down animals when they do not get adopted. But if you choose to adopt a pet from an animal adoption agency or animal shelter, you will be saving a precious life all whilst increasing its quality of life. Saving a life definitely gives you a very rewarding feeling.

2. You'll save money

Adopting a pet allows you to save a lot of money. This is because animals placed in shelters or animal adoption agencies are usually spayed or neutered and vaccinated. When buying from a pet store, you’ll have to take out not only money but time as well to put your pets through all these preliminary but necessary procedures.

Thus making pet adoption a real bargain.

3. You'll receive a healthy pet

As mentioned above, pets from shelters and adoption agencies are usually spayed, neutered and have received their vaccinations. This shows that the health and happiness of the pets are in proper shape.

In contrast to popular beliefs that pets placed in shelters have been mistreated or have done something wrong pets placed there usually end up there due to problems associated with humans rather than the pets themselves. These problems associated with humans include, divorce or being too busy to care for a pet.

4. You won't be supporting puppy mills

Many of the pets being sold in pet stores sometimes come from puppy mills. What are puppy mills? They are mass dog breeding businesses which are harmful to the health of their bred puppies. These facilities sometimes have up to several hundred dogs at a time. This compromising the health and well being of the puppy. Parents dogs are made to breed until they can no longer breed. After which they are discarded or auctioned off.

5. You'll have a large selection

Pet adoption agencies and animal shelters have a wide array of pets for you to choose from. Some of these places make the experience of pet shopping an ease as they provide details of the pets such as age, sex, size and breed. Potential pet owners can search for a pet of their choice through the comfort of their home whilst limiting the hassle of going down to the noisy pet shelters and agencies.

In conclusion, you will feel the satisfaction of having an adopted pet. It helps you to get a healthy pet, save money, support a healthy cause, have saved a life and gotten the perfect pet for your family. Be their guardian angel by providing them with a 2nd lease of life.

In accordance to USmagazine.com, Oprah Winfrey adopted an 8 week-old cocker spaniel (blonde coloured). It was one pup of a litter of six. She was named Amanda either by the shelter staff or Winfrey (the shelter rep was unsure who named her).

This is great news for pet adoption advocates (like us!) Oprah promised, on one of her episodes, her next dog would come from a shelter. The episode also showed the horrors of puppy mills.

In addition, in honor of her late cocker spaniel, Sophie, she donated to PAWS Chicago. She also aired a show recently about Yorkies who were rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri. Her website has a photo gallery which contains her employees’ rescued pets.
